It's been a long journey for me since the day I picked up my first dumbbell to now, where I've been effectively combining bodyweight and dumbbell exercises to develop high intensity workouts for superior fitness and health.
I began to training when I was 10 years old, doing one-arm bench presses and curls with a 15 lbs dumbbell.
3 years later, I joined Karate where I was forced to do lots and lots of pushups.
My primary goal was to lose fat.
I was a fat guy until the age of 20.
It was in college that I finally decided to combine dumbbell and bodyweight exercises into high intensity circuit workouts.
Another effective method is to perform interval training with bodyweight and dumbbell exercise.
Interval training is where you alternate between periods of high intensity and periods of low intensity exercise.
Interval training with bodyweight and dumbbell exercises works wonders for fat loss.
But along the line, I started getting more into athletic fitness rather than just fat loss.
I realized that traditional body building made me slow and bulky.
However, when I combined dumbbell training with bodyweight training, it actually improved my performance for Karate! At this point, I knew I was onto something.
However, the main problem was that my workouts aren't well organized or structured.
I was just scratching the surface with my training.
I knew I could do more.
I knew I could push myself to new levels of personal and athletic fitness.
At this point, all that mattered to me was beating my friends in the dojo.
