- 1). Remove any items or large pieces of debris from the area to be cleaned. Wear protective clothing, gloves and eyewear, as the steam produced by the washer is very hot and can burn skin.
- 2). If the surface area is excessively soiled with grease, apply a thin layer of sawdust, kitty litter or other absorbent material over the area to be cleaned. Wait one hour to allow as much as possible of the grease to be absorbed into the material.
- 3). Sweep up the absorbent material and discard it.
- 4). Fill the water tank on the steamer to the fill line, and connect it to the power supply. Turn on the machine, and wait five to 10 minutes for the steam washer to heat properly. Many steamers have an indicator light that will illuminate when ready for use.
- 5). Point the nozzle at the grease surface to be cleaned, and press the trigger. Use the nozzle to spray the steam over the area in a back-and-forth motion in even strokes to break up the grease.
- 6). Repeat as necessary until the grease is gone. When finished, turn off the steamer, and disconnect it from the power supply. Wait 15 minutes to allow the unit to cool before touching or moving it, as the steamer will be hot to the touch.
