- 1). Spray a stone cleaner on the marble and buff it dry with a lint-free cloth to ensure no surface debris is present. Most stone cleaners can be applied directly to the stone with no diluting; check the label to make sure before applying it to the marble.
- 2). Spread a liquid stone poultice over the stains and cover the poultice with a sheet of plastic wrap or a plastic tarp. Stone poultices are available both liquid and powder; follow the manufacturer's directions to mix the poultice to the correct consistency. Covering the poultice with plastic will help seal in the chemical reaction needed to pull the stain to the surface. Allow the poultice to sit for up to one hour.
- 3). Remove the plastic from the poultice and wipe it up with a lint-free cloth dipped in water. Spray additional stone cleaner on the marble and buff it dry to remove any impurities the poultice has pulled up.
- 4). Seal the marble with a silicone-based impregnating sealer by painting the marble with sealer using a foam paintbrush. Let the sealer penetrate for 10 minutes and then wipe away the excess with a lint-free cloth.
