- 1). Plug one end of the Dock-Connector-to-USB cable into the matching port located on the bottom of the iPod Nano. Plug the remaining end of the cable into an unused USB port on your computer. Wait for the "Setup Assistant" window to appear.
- 2). Input a name for the iPod Nano in the appropriate field. Confirm that the option labeled "Automatically Sync Songs to my iPod" is selected. Click on the button labeled "Done," and wait for the iTunes application to transfer your media file to the iPod Nano.
- 3). Locate the drive entry in the iTunes window that corresponds to your iPod Nano, and click on the eject button, located next to it. Examine the display on the iPod Nano; when the display reads "OK to Disconnect," unplug the USB cable from your computer and disconnect the remaining end from the iPod Nano.
- 1). Plug the headphones into the jack located on the bottom of the device; if the device has turned off, turn it back on by pressing any button. Find the Click Wheel, located underneath the display. Press the "MENU" button, located at the upper end of the Click Wheel, to access the menu screen.
- 2). Run your fingertip over the surface of the Click Wheel, in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion, to navigate through the menu options. Highlight the option labeled "Music." Press the button in the center of the Click Wheel to confirm your selection.
- 3). Use the Click Wheel to highlight the song you wish to play. Press the play button, located at the bottom of the Click Wheel, to confirm your selection; the play button is labeled with an icon of a triangle next to two vertical lines. Use the Click Wheel to adjust the playback volume. Press the buttons on the left and right sides of the Click Wheel to skip to a different song.
- 4). Hold down the play button to turn off the device after you have finished listening to your music.
