- 1). Connect the wide end of the iPod USB transfer cable to the bottom of the third generation iPod Nano.
- 2). Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer. If you receive an alert about the USB device not having enough power, try plugging the cable directly into the laptop or desktop instead of a hub, keyboard or monitor port.
- 3). Launch the iTunes application if it does not open automatically.
- 4). Click on the icon for your iPod Nano that appears on the left side of the iTunes window under the "Devices" heading.
- 5). Use the tabs along the top of the window to choose which songs, videos and photos you want to sync from your iTunes library.
- 6). Press the "Apply" or "Sync" button in the lower-right corner of the window to perform the first sync operation.
- 7). Click the eject symbol next to the name of your iPod Nano in the "Devices" list when you are done syncing and charging.
- 8). Unplug the iPod USB transfer cable from your Mac or PC computer.
