- 1). Turn your washing machine to a normal washing cycle with a cold water temperature setting. Pour 1/4 cup liquid laundry detergent directly into the washer drum was it fills with water.
- 2). Put on a pair of rubber gloves, and gather only the fabric embedded with the fiberglass. Submerge it in the washer drum. Only wash the fabric with fiberglass. Washing other fabrics with this load will increase the chance of transferring the fiberglass to the other items.
- 3). Close the washing machine lid, and let the machine complete the full wash, rinse and spin cycle. Remove the damp fabric from the washing machine, and hang dry.
- 4). Turn the washing machine dial to the largest load setting, and close the lid. Let the washing machine run empty through a complete wash, rinse and spin cycle. This will help remove the fiberglass particles that came off the fabric.
- 5). Repeat Step 4 to remove any lingering fiberglass particles.
