- 1). Connect the computer end of the iPod cord to the computer that has the different version of iTunes. Then connect the iPod end of the cord to the iPod.
- 2). Open the iTunes program. A dialog box appears. Click "No" in the box. Clicking "Yes" erases everything from the iPod and automatically replaces the device's songs/videos with files from iTunes.
- 3). Click the iPod listed under Devices in iTunes to highlight the iPod name.
- 4). Click the "Summary" category in the middle of iTunes. Then click the box for the "Manually manage music and videos" option that's at the bottom of the middle panel of iTunes.
- 5). Click on the "Apply" button at the bottom of iTunes. It is now safe to use different iTunes with the iPod.
- 6). Click the "Music" category under the "Library" selection found in the upper left iTunes panel. The iTunes audio files appear.
- 7). Hold down "Ctrl" on PC keyboards (or the "Command" key on Mac keyboards). Then click every iTunes song you are putting on the iPod.
- 8). Drag the songs chosen in the previous step over to the iPod listed under "Devices." The music is successfully added to the iPod.
