Should you start a blog? What are the benefits to me? Will it cost me? Those might be some of the questions you are asking yourself when thinking about starting a blog.
Most people get put off starting with the amount of technical work that is involved but it's now easier that ever to have a blog.
Places like Blogger and WordPress offer a free blogging platform for which you can use for free.
Another reason people do not have a blog is the content "what will I write about".
Do you have a hobby or interest like golfing or painting? Write about that.
Don't have a hobby? What about what's going on in the world wars, famine or environmental issues.
What about what's going on in your life like your family or your job.
The key to a good blog is not what it's about but how it's written.
You could be talking about a subject that is controversial but is your opinion.
People may not agree with you but they will respect your views.
You may not like writing too much so what do you do then? Well you could have a video blog or have lots and lots of pictures with captions underneath.
I know very famous bloggers do that and make a shed load of money.
Well what if you want to make money blogging too, how do you go about doing that? You will need two things, firstly something to sell a product or service.
Maybe you have created something and would like to sell it.
What if you don't have anything to sell, well you can become an affiliate marketer.
Places like ClickBank and Amazon have programs and products you can sell for someone else and make a commission.
Sometimes as high as 75%.
Just be careful what you promote you don't want to offer something that your readers don't want and stop visiting your blog.
Which leads me in to my second point: visitors, you're going to have to attract them and lots of them.
Having good quality posts and posting often will get some visitors and also repeat visitors.
Other than that you are going to have to go and promote your blog all over the internet, like social media sites, videos sites and forums.
Also try other blogs with the same topic as you.
Just make sure they aren't your competition.
Blogs can be fun and exciting places.
Just make sure you put in the time and effort required.
Blogging consistently will keep visitors coming back time and time again.
Become a reader and follower of other blogs leaving comments as well.
Reply to any comments that might be left on your blog and listen to what your readers are saying about your blog.
Happy blogging.
