Nearby activities include golfing at the five surrounding golf courses and gambling at the local casinos. Veterans Memorial State Forest Campground

• Veterans Memorial State Forest Campground accommodates tent campers and small-trailer campers on its 24 campsites. The primitive campsite comes with potable water and vault toilets. Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck in the nearby Platte River or Crystal Lake both of which also allow canoeing. Other activities campers can engage in include hiking, biking, and wildlife watching. Campers can reach the campground via US-31, 3.5 miles east of Honor. The website for the Department of Natural Resources mentions that there is a camping fee but reservations are not required.

Turtle Lake Campground & Cabins

• This 38-acre campground, located about 20 miles from Frankfort, Michigan, provides 59 campsites that can accommodate tent and RV campers from May through September. Lakeside cottages are also available for rent. The wooded campsites are near a quarter mile of shoreline, which allows boating, fishing and swimming. Facilities include a recreational building, bathhouse, playground and sanitary disposal station. Campers can rent bikes, boats, canoes and kayaks by the hour. If you bring your own boat, you will have to pay an extra fee for it on top of the camping fee. The rental cottages sleep up to six people and can be rented for a minimum stay of one week. Campsite reservations can be made all throughout the year; daily, weekly and monthly rates apply.
