What Is This "New Orleans Wine and Food Experience?":
Experience New Orleans through her cuisine, art, and music, all the while enjoying wonderful wines from around the world. Usually held in May, the event involves numerous restaurants, hotels, art galleries, museums, and antique shops that will be the gathering places for those who love to "wine." Below we list some of the participating restaurants and menus for the Wednesday dinners.
Wine Dinners:
Many of the fine dining venues in New Orleans participate in the Wine and Food Experience, hosting special menus paring fine wines with fine cuisine. The wine dinners are held on the Wednesday of Wine and Food Experience week and require advance reservations.
Royal Street Stroll:
One fun activity during the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience is the Royal Street Stroll. Royal Street Stroll on Thursday. Tickets are $75.00 in advance and $90.00 that night. (They are non-refundable.) This is probably the definitive experience which combines a look at rare antiques and fine art, while listening to live jazz and enjoying the outstanding wines offered at each stop.
Wine Seminars:
There are wine seminars throughout the Wine and Food Experience for those who want to learn more about the subject. Winemakers come from all over the country and beyond for this festival, so it's a great time to learn, taste and enjoy some fine wines.
Grand Tastings:
The Wine and Food Experience always includes grand tastings.
There is always a cook-off at one of the grand tastings. That event is a must for foodies. Ticket prices vary and should be bought in advance.
Sunday Champagne Brunch:
A fabulous Champagne Brunch is usually held on Sunday at one of New Orleans' best restaurants.
