From September 4 through September 7, 2015, the 4th annual Great Irish Hooley takes place at Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant. If you've been looking for a properly Irish way to simultaneously celebrate Labor Day weekend, the halfway point to St. Patrick's Day, and the popular bar and restaurant's tenth anniversary at Downtown Disney, this is certainly a suitably festive option.
Here's a look at what's in store for Raglan Road's long weekend event:
Live Irish Music
Live music kicks off at noon on Friday and continues every day and evening until the end of the festivities on Monday night. Acts perform on both the outdoor patio stage and the indoor main stage. Screaming Orphans, a band of four sisters from County Donegal who meld pop/rock with traditional Ceili music, is the headlining act this year, playing Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights at 10:00 pm on the patio stage.
Other acts in the 2015 Great Irish Hooley lineup include:
- The Raglan Roots Coalition closes out nightly with their soulful, funky Celtic bluegrass, starting at 10:00 pm on the main stage inside
- JigJam, a trio hailing from County Offaly and fusing Irish folk with American bluegrass, performs on all four days
- The West Coast Trio plays contemporary and traditional Irish tunes at noon Saturday through Monday on the main stage
- The Blarney Stones, an Irish quartet offering creative takes on traditional Irish music, plays Friday and Sunday
- The Blaggards deliver vibrant Irish songs by way of County Clare on Saturday, Sunday and Monday
- Cooney and Ryan, a duo of masterful musicians, play Friday, Saturday and Monday
- Jake Richardson, a singer-songwriter from Dublin, performs Friday and Monday on the patio stage
- Élan takes part in the informal traditional Irish music session outside the restaurant
- And of course the renowned Raglan Road Irish Dancers perform throughout the festivities
