Important Facts Regarding Car Motor Oil

Why does car motor oil need to be changed? Is there any way to reduce the number of oil changes one needs to make on one's car?Motor oil becomes contaminated over time.
There are three ways in which this occurs.
First, particles or debris come in through the air intake system.
Second, metal shavings become present in your oil due to metal on metal contact within your engine.
Finally, there are combustion by-products that increase in your oil over time, reducing its effectiveness.
There are things that can be done to combat these problems.
Conventional paper air filters, which allow too much debris, can be replaced with more efficient nanofiber filters.
This will help prevent smaller particles from getting into your oil supply.
Off-the-shelf oil filters, which are typically 70 to 80% effective and only capture larger particles, can be swapped out for more useful synthetic filters which grab smaller particles.
Utilizing higher quality air and oil filters can help your oil to stay cleaner, thereby cutting down on engine wear significantly.
Finally, the most important step one can take is to switch to synthetic motor oil.
Synthetic oil is designed expressly for the purpose of lubricating and protecting your engine, unlike petroleum based oils which are made from crude oil basestocks and contain unnecessary contaminants.
As a result it lasts longer than traditional oil (no burn-off) and is better for heat reduction, film strength and viscosity.
It does not create engine deposits like petroleum based oils.
All these qualities mean longer vehicle life and fewer costly repairs.
In addition, your mileage will be improved and your engine will perform better.
In short, synthetic oil lasts longer and better protects and lubricates your engine.
Combining this with quality air and oil filtration will ensure longer periods between oil changes.
Make synthetic oil your car motor oil, and you will realize many benefits.
