- 1). Lightly buff the whitewall surface with steel wool pads to remove any brake dust or other contaminates. Continue buffing to remove any glaze or shine that appears. Apply rubbing alcohol on a rag and wipe the surface to remove fine particles. This also enhances paint adhesion.
- 2). Mask off the wheel with tape and old newspaper up to the inner edge of the whitewall. Mask the tire surface above the outer edge of the whitewall. Use paper and tape to protect nearby body panels from paint overspray.
- 3). Spray-paint the exposed surface with light sweeping motions for even distribution. Follow the directions on the paint can regarding distance kept during application. Apply several light coats with uniform technique to avoid creating blotches in the finish. Repeat the process at the remaining wheels.
