How do I Change Oil Filters on a Ford Fusion?

Remove the Existing Oil Filter

1). Raise the front end of your Ford Fusion with a car jack and support it with jack stands.
2). Locate the oil filter in the front of the engine on top of the plastic splash shield. Remove the two screws (if present) and the access cover of the filter.
3). Loosen the drain plug of the oil filter. Use a cup-style oil filter wrench to loosen the filter one turn.
4). Remove the oil filter drain plug. Drain the engine oil out of the oil filter into the drain pan.
5). Remove and discard the O-ring seals of the oil filter drain plug and the oil filter cover. Remove and discard the oil filter unit.

1). Wipe the mounting surface and the oil filter cover clean.
2). Lubricate the oil filter cover O-ring seal with clean engine oil and install.
3). Install the new oil filter unit and cover.
4). Lubricate the oil filter drain plug O-ring seal with clean engine oil and install.
5). Install the oil filter drain plug and tighten.
6). Replace the two screws (if present) and the access cover of the filter.
7). Put the jack under the car, elevate the car off the stands, remove the stands and jack the car to the ground.
