- 1). Clean the area around the seam being repaired using a general-purpose cleaner and a scrubbing pad. The repair will have a better chance at succeeding if the surface is free of dirt and oils.
- 2). Unfold the fabric from a fiberglass repair kit. Use scissors to cut it into three strips large enough to cover the seam and several inches beyond it in both directions.
- 3). Mix the epoxy from the repair kit with the hardening agent in an old coffee can per the instructions from the kit.
- 4). Brush the epoxy mixture onto the seam and lay a piece of the fabric over it. Ensure that the fabric lies evenly on the seam.
- 5). Apply another coat of epoxy on top the piece of fabric and add another piece of fabric. Brush epoxy on that piece of fabric and lay the last piece on top. Brush on a final coat of epoxy and let the repair dry for 24 hours before continuing normal use.
