- 1). Use a rag and household cleaner to wipe off the surface to be sealed. Rinse and dry the surface. You don't need to clean a surface that you just painted.
- 2). Put a respirator over your mouth and nose to protect your respiratory system. Use spray paints outdoors if possible.
- 3). Shake the spray can of enamel clear coat for approximately one minute. Hold the can about 12 to 16 inches from your surface. Keep the can upright. Depress the spray nozzle with your finger. Move the can back and forth to apply the enamel with a sweeping motion. Allow your strokes to overlap slightly. Apply a thin, even coat of enamel.
- 4). Spray on one or more thin coats of enamel. Wait a few minutes for the enamel to dry between applications.
- 5). Clear the can's spray valve after applying the clear coat. Hold the can upside down, and press the nozzle down for five seconds.
