Stress, it steals away our health and our joy.
Worry and disease are linked hand and hand.
With the world economy such as it is, it can seem almost impossible to think that you can overcome stress, but you can.
You can begin to reclaim your happiness by following five simple steps to reduce your stress level: 1.
Write it and release it.
Write down what's bothering you.
Make a list of your problems, and then a list of possible solutions.
Most of the time we only re-hash things in our mind because we're afraid we'll forget them.
Creating a list gives you a tangible to-do list and a concrete plan of action.
Give your mind a break and don't give the list another thought until you're ready to get to work.
2.
Exercise regularly.
Yes, this helps keep your body strong, but more importantly it helps you get rid of nervous energy and pent up frustrations.
Also the endorphins that are released from exercise help you to feel calmer as well.
3.
Take a catnap.
If you can't shut off your overactive mind at will, then go into shut-down mode by sleeping.
It rejuvenates your mind and who knows? Through dreaming, maybe your subconscious mind will solve the problem for you.
It's happened.
4.
Play hooky.
If you're feeling really frazzled, take the day off.
Call in sick to work, find a babysitter; do whatever you have to do to give yourself some much needed down-time.
Then make it a priority to indulge yourself in all of your favorite things.
Consider it a prescription for good health! Go to an amusement park, take a bubble bath or play your favorite sport.
Do whatever it takes to put you back in touch with your joy.
5.
Finally, and this is a biggie- Surrender.
Worry never helped anything anyway.
You've already made your list of actions to take, so now let it go.
The freedom you gain when you realize that things aren't really in your control is liberating, and will allow you to find that much needed peace of mind!
