Journalling is easy, it's fun and it's life changing.
It's important to get started on journalling rather than thinking and learning about the process second hand.
The amazing discoveries waiting for you in your words, drawings and musings that make up your journal will surprise you.
Here are 7 things you can do now to make a start on journalling: 1.
Space Somewhere busy or quiet, the choice is yours.
Some people like hustle and bustle and can focus easier that way.
Others need peace and quiet and we probably all value both at certain times.
Choose what environment will inspire you today.

Time Like everything in life.
Writing uses up time.
Decide how much time you want to spend on writing today and book an appointment with yourself.
Write it down in your diary.
You could also decide that any spare minute you have will be devoted to writing down what you notice that inspires you in an idea's note book to journal about later.

Notebook Many writers talk about special paper and notebooks and I'm no different in singing the praises of mine.
However all you need is paper whatever form takes your fancy.
If the expensive leather bound journal does it for you then treat yourself, otherwise grab some paper and begin.
Some people prefer lined paper to blank and vice versa, you'll probably find that like everything in life your tastes will change.
Experiment to find out what you love.

Pen There are the Mont Blancs and the Bics of the pen world.
What you need is a tool to write with, a pen or a pencil, either a handheld tool or a keyboard, go with what feels most comfortable.
There are benefits and downsides to both, so just choose one to start you off.
You can decide the more you write and experiment which method and tool you prefer.

A Few Ideas of What You'll Write If you have a few ideas to start you off, you're more likely to succeed in sitting down to write.
You'll also feel more motivated to make it happen.
Start by writing about the last job you had, or write down your thoughts about love, food, life.
Pick one and start.

Belief You must have self-belief and faith in yourself.
Everyone can write, but negative mindsets and defeating beliefs prevent lots of people writing for themselves or others.
Whether it's writing for publication or for your own pleasure it's important to do it.
We are all unique and therefore have something to say that's different.
Find what it is you have to say by starting to explore yourself through words.

A Keep Sake If you have a possession that inspires you and it's portable have it with you when you write.
You can use it as a way of signaling to yourself that it's time to reflect and explore your inner world.
Something from nature like a flower, stone, crystal or fir cone is a great idea too.
So, there you have 7 things you can do today to signal your commitment to journalling.
Remember the most important thing is to write.
Be willing to just do it and let the magic of you, be released on to the paper.
