Gay Pride Week 2012

New York City will celebrate Gay Pride Week from June 16-24, 2012. As always, it will be an action-packed week of events to celebrate the LGBT community, commemorate the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, and support the ongoing fight for gay liberation.

In fact, New York will celebrate LGBT pride events throughout the month of June and into July this year. See the full schedule of events in our NYC Gay Pride Guide 2012.

The theme surrounding the 2012 event is “Share the Love." Pride Week 2012 spotlights New York City as one of the world's most welcoming and inclusive LGBT destinations. Grand marshals will include Cyndi Lauper; Chris Salgardo, President of Kiehl's USA; and Phyllis Siegel & Connie Kopelov, New York City's first same-sex married couple.

In past years, more than 750,000 people participated in Pride Week events. This year's official 2012 New York Gay Pride Week events include:
  • LGBT Pride Rally: Pride Week kicks off with a rally featuring community performers and speakers on June 16th. Chelsea Lately's Fortune Feimster and Queer Eye For the Straight Guy's Jai Rodriguez will MC. This event is free and open to the public; no tickets are necessary.

    3 PM to 6 PM, East River Park Bandshell in Central Park
    Admission: FREE
  • Family Night: Bring the whole family for an outdoor screening of the 1971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory -- with a view of the Hudson, snack stations, and host Ross Mathews.
    Wednesday, June 20th, 2012
    7:30 PM at Hudson River Park's Pier 46 (Charles Street & West Side Highway)
    Admission: FREE.


  • VIP Rooftop Party: Come out for the first official NYC party featuring 3 levels of dancing and 3 great DJs.
    Saturday, June 23rd, 2012
    2-8 PM at Hudson Terrace (621 West 46th Street)
    Admission: $35 in advance, $45 general admission, $100 VIP.
  • Rapture on the River: This dance is for the ladies. All proceeds benefit Pride Week events and community organizations.
    Saturday, June 23rd, 2012
    4 PM - 11 PM at Pier 57 (15th St. & the West Side Highway).
    General Admission: $25 in advance, $35 general admission, $75 VIP. Get tickets.
  • LGBT Pride March: The annual gay pride parade starts at 5th Avenue and 36th Street and ends at Christopher and Greenwich Streets.
    Sunday, June 24th, 2012
    11 AM until whenever. Moment of Silence: 2 PM
    Admission: FREE
  • Pridefest: This free family street festival will feature vendors, entertainers, and community activities. The festival will take place on Hudson Street between Abingdon Square and West 14th Street.

    11 PM to 6 PM.
    Admission: FREE
  • The Dance on the Pier: The Dance on the Pier was born out of a time when LGBT New Yorkers could not dance openly and proudly together. This year's party will feature a live performance by Cyndi Lauper.

    2 PM - 10:30 PM at Pier 57 (15th St. & the West Side Highway)
    Admission: $90 in June, $165 for VIP access. Get tickets.
