- 1). Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws on the front of the thermoplastic cover in front of the handlebars. Remove the cover by hand and set it and the screws aside.
- 2). Use a pair of pliers to disconnect the throttle cable at the carburetor.
- 3). Loosen the bolts on both the front steering support and the steering stem arm.
- 4). Pull the steering stem arm free from the steering stem.
- 5). Apply a dab of marine grease on both the front support thrust ring and the rear support thrust ring.
- 6). Slide the steering stem arm back into the steering stem and re-insert the bolts on the front steering support and the steering stem arm. Tighten those bolts with the socket set.
- 7). Re-attach the throttle cable to the carburetor with the pliers.
- 8). Set the front handlebar cover back in place and tighten down the retaining screws with the Phillips screwdriver.
