- 1). Apply a lacquer sanding sealer to the Masonite door, using a clean paintbrush. Allow the sealer to dry for approximately one hour or until dry to the touch. Follow the instructions that come with the lacquer sanding sealer for further instructions on multiple coats.
- 2). Sand the surface of the sanding sealer until you achieve a smooth finish, using a power sander
- 3). Apply a second coat of lacquer sanding sealer to the door, and allow it to dry for approximately one hour or until dry to the touch.
- 4). Apply a coat of latex paint, using a paintbrush. Generally, a low-gloss latex paint is used for optimal results. You may have to apply a second coat of latex paint to achieve complete coverage.
- 5). Wipe over the dried, sealed door with a clean cloth. This removes debris before you hang the door.
