Formation

• John Brisben Walker produced the first Red Rocks concerts from 1906 to 1910. Events were performed on a temporary platform.

  The city of Denver purchased Red Rocks from Walker for $54,133 in 1927. The city and county of Denver have retained ownership, with operations controlled by the Division of Theatres and Arenas. (Reference 1)
  
  

Improvements

• Construction of the amphitheater began in 1936 and continued for 12 years. On June 15, 1941, the park was dedicated.
