- 1). Spray the area with trisodium phosphate (TSP), and use a sponge to cover the area with the liquid. This will dull the glossy paint and clean the area.
- 2). Cover the area with primer. If you are changing color, ask the employee at the paint store to tint the primer to 90 percent of the paint color. You'll get better coverage that way.
- 3). Wait for the primer to dry.
- 4). Paint the area with satin paint. Depending on the color and quality of paint, you may need more than one coat.
