Dr Atkins diet revolutionized the way people go on a diet.
Instead of calculating the amount of food intake or calorie counting, the Dr Atkins diet works by limiting the amount of certain types of food while placing no restriction on permissible foods during the course of this diet of program.
Basically, this diet program is meant to be a lifetime solution and used as a dietary lifestyle that can give you lifelong weight loss solutions.
However, it is important that you get to know a few things about this diet program and discover the types of food permissible during the course of the Dr Atkins diet program.
The Dr Atkins diet program works by increasing the amount of protein rich food and limiting the intake of carbohydrate foods.
By limiting the intake of carbohydrate and increasing the amount of protein, the body would be thrown into a state referred to as the ketosis.
This is the stage where rapid fat burning is done in order to compensate for the lack of energy sources when carbohydrate intake is kept a minimum level.
There are four basic principles that are responsible for the rapid weight loss and maintenance in the Dr Atkins diet program.

Debate#1: Kidney Health Some critics have been quick to point out that a diet that is high in protein would place considerable pressure on the kidneys to work twice as much as usual and this can lead to some undesirable effects in the long run.
Possible damage to the overworked kidneys is one of the key points that the critics have raised during the debate concerning this diet program.
Debate#2: Unsuitable for Vegetarians The Dr Atkins diet Is definitely unsuitable for vegetarians or vegan as it makes use of mostly animal based food to achieve the high protein count.
Even though there are some sources that comes from plants, but the major portion of the food included into this diet comes form animal sources, Therefore those who are vegetarians or vegan would not be able to follow this diet program.
Debate#3: High Fat Diets that are fat-laden would definitely be rich in cholesterol and fats as well.
