- 1). Open the computer screen to show the desktop icons.
- 2). Right click on "My Network Places" or "Network Neighborhood."
- 3). Click on "Properties."
- 4). Click on "TCP/IP." This is the Internet protocol area, which sets where the IP address is located.
- 5). Click on "Properties."
- 6). Locate an unused static IP address from the list. Locate "Use the following IP address" in the Properties window. Type in the new IP address. Do not change any other settings. Click "OK" or "Apply."
