- 1). Turn the garbage disposal off. Sprinkle 3/4 cup of baking soda down the drain into the garbage disposal.
- 2). Pour white vinegar slowly into the garbage disposal. Stop pouring once it begins to bubble. Allow the baking soda and vinegar to loosen food from the disposal blades for 10 minutes.
- 3). Run hot water into the drain for one minute to clean the food and cleaning solution from the blades.
- 4). Drop three ice cubes into the drain and turn on the garbage disposal. The ice cubes sharpen the blades while removing leftover food. Turn off the disposal.
