How do I Draw Table Plans?

    • 1). Line paper in front of you by hooking the bottom edge of the T-square with the side of the table so the T-square is level from side to side. Align the edge of the paper horizontally with the bottom edge of the T-square.

    • 2). Tape the paper to the table by applying one piece of drafting tape to each corner of the paper. Set the scale for the drawings. Determine the largest scale you can use for the space you have to draw. Measure in 1/2-inch from each side of the paper and draw a border at the marks.

    • 3). Label the drawing for scale in the bottom right corner. Label the scale you chose equal to one foot. If you choose a 1/4-inch scale, you would write 1/4" = 1'. This will let anyone building off your plans know exactly what scale to measure with.

    • 4). Divide the paper into four designated drawing areas with a thin pencil line. You will erase this line at a later time, so it is important that you do not press down hard while drawing the line.

    • 5). Draw the end of the table in the bottom left corner. This will be a guideline for everything that will be drawn in the future. Draw the table at eyesight directly viewing from the side. Draw everything to the specified scale.

    • 6). Draw the plans for the table viewing from the top side in the top left corner. This drawing should have the edge drawn in the bottom left corner lined up to the edge of the table drawn in the top.

    • 7). Draw the plans for the sides of the table in the bottom right section. Line the top and side edges to the drawing in the bottom left. Draw this section as if you are looking directly at the side of the table.

    • 8). Line the 30-degree edge of the 30-60-90 triangle to the edge of the table drawn in the bottom left corner. Line the long edge of the triangle with the T-square and angle into the top right corner. Draw a light line into this area.

    • 9). Draw one line from each point on the top left and bottom right drawings. Connect each point along the 30-degree line. Continue to connect the points until each plan drawing has been connected at.

    • 10

Draw a line to each point drawn in the top right corner using the 30-degree angle of the 30-60-90 triangle. Connect each point to the location in the bottom left corner drawing.

    • 11

Draw out from each point along the drawn line to the specified length. Mark each ending point per section.

    • 12

Connect the points along the angled line with the 60-degree angle to complete the perspective drawing.

    • 13

Erase any lines you no longer need.
