- Seniors can visit the Richton Park Public Library for programs aimed primarily for them, including book clubs, classes and speakers on special topics. They can join the Morning Book Club, Evening Book Club, African American Author Book Club or Cook Book Book Club. Computer classes are also available as are 1-1/2 hour talks such as Master Gardener's "Organic Vegetable Gardening" or "Travel Savvy," which focuses on travel tips and guidelines. Call the library if you'd like to register for any library program.
- Richton Park has several parks where you can spend some time exercising outdoors. Walk or bike on the path, play tennis or organize a softball game in the ball field in 24-acre Glaeser Park or seven-acre Pierce Park. You can also go for a walk in walking/bike paths in 10-acre Christina Covington Children's Memorial Park, 4.6-acre Rudolph A. Banovich Park and .39-acre Indian Trail Park. Additionally, 7.8-acre Helen A. Jones Park and 2.2-acre Klawitter Park have a ball fields and walking/bike paths.
- The township of Rich, located less than 10 minutes from Richton Park, has a walking club specifically for seniors. As of April 2011, the club meets once a week in the mornings. Get some exercise and meet other seniors by joining the walking club, which meets rain or shine. When the weather permits, you'll go for a walk on the Old Plank Road Trail, a 21-mile recreation and nature trail. On rainy or cold days, you'll go for a walk in Lincoln Mall.
- Senior citizens can participate in enrichment programs offered by the Senior Center in Park Forest, also less than 10 minutes from Richton Park. Available activities include watching movies, attending special lunches or dinners; going on outings to local attractions; learning in classes, such as an art class; and playing games like cards. You can check the Senior Center's calendar for a schedule on the programs that are offered.
