Stretching is a very important component of the exercise routine.
One of the worst things you can do is to begin to lift weights or do cardiovascular exercise without properly limbering up your muscles.
Here are a few suggestions on how you can quickly and easily stretch all of the muscles of your body doing a few simple things.
When you wake up in the morning, depending upon the type of sleep that you had, or the mattress that she slept on, your body may be very stiff especially if you slept a long time.
If you have ever watched animals that wake up in the morning, or from an afternoon nap, you will see that they do a bit of stretching prior to any movement.
Therefore, exercise of any kind at all must have a prerequisite of limbering all of your muscles doing a few basic techniques.
The first thing you should do is touch your toes.
This can be done with your legs together and your feet pointing outward in the same direction preferably in the direction that your head is facing.
Slowly bend down and as a first goal touch your knees.
If you can do this four or five times repetitively without any discomfort try to go further down touching your ankles and then eventually strive to reach the tips of your toes.
If possible, hold this stretch for anywhere between 2 to 5 seconds.
Doing so will cause a general stretch of your entire body.
Be sure not to do this longer than 2 to 3 minutes when you're just starting out.
A few feel that your head is lacking out due to bending over, you can accommodate this discomfort by sitting down on the floor and repeating the same type of stretch but from a horizontal position.
This is sometimes easier for many people.
You can also modify it by placing your feet against the wall so that you were able to maintain a vertical stance with your toes pointed out maximizing the stretch.
Once you have done this for several minutes, you should do a simple run in place for about five minutes.
This will get the blood flowing throughout your limbs and increase your heart rate.
If you are doing aerobic exercises or weightlifting, you are now ready to perform at an optimal level without the risk of injuring yourself due to a lack of mobility.
