- 1). Download freeware file compression software. Two popular freeware file compression utilities are IZArc and ZipGenius.
- 2). Install the freeware file compression software. These utilities will typically download as an executable file. Click on the executable to begin the installation process, and follow the prompts to configure the installation to your system requirements.
- 3). Double-click on the .rar file you downloaded from RapidShare with the left mouse button. This will launch the file compression utility you chose to install.
- 4). Click the button to extract the file. Along the top row of the file compression software, you will see a button that offers to extract the contents of the .rar file. Click this button to begin the extraction process.
- 5). Choose the location to extract the files. A dialog box will open; you can either type in a location to extract the files or choose to browse to a location to extract the files.
- 6). Click the appropriate button to finalize the extraction process. This will run the extraction process and save the files in the location you chose earlier.
- 7). Open the destination folder and verify that the files were extracted. Using your preferred means of file viewing, navigate to the destination folder. Verify that the files are all there and that you can open them.
