Gulfport, Mississippi is the second-largest city in the state and located on the Gulf of Mexico. Although large portions of the city were destroyed after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, as of 2010, life is coming back to the area as many businesses rebuilt. The city draws tourists with its beaches and casinos. If you are visiting the area and looking for an adult nightclub, the choices are somewhat limited. As of 2010, no strip clubs are in operation in Gulfport or neighboring Biloxi. However, there are three nightclubs in the area that only admit guests 21 and over. - Close Encounters bills itself as "an elegant, intimate nightclub." The club has a full bar, pool tables and a dance floor and focuses on hosting events for groups such as the Close Encounters Swingers Club and the Coast Bi Ladies, a club for bisexual women in the Gulf Coast area. Groups that rent the club for events are supplied with either an open or cash bar and wait-staff for the evening.

There is also an area with flat-screen televisions for watching spots. The club opens early during college football season for game viewing. Discounts are offered for all active military members and service industry employees. People can also sign up to be a VIP member to receive coupons and advanced notice of special events.

The club has a large dance floor and hosts either a live band or DJ. Three nights each week, the Coast Dancers are featured. Club-goers must be 21 or older to get in. A dress code is enforced with shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops, baseball hats, athletic wear and oversized clothing forbidden. Events such as ladies night and service industry night are hosted at the club.
