- 1). Lift the new column in place and point the end of the column -- the part that connects to the linkage -- through the access hole in the firewall.
- 2). Lift the steering wheel up so that the mounting holes on the steering column can be mounted to the dashboard. Loosely thread the column support bolts onto the column to keep it up.
- 3). Pop the hood and locate the end of the steering column. It's a piece of round tubing with large flat points, and it's going to connect into the end of the steering linkage.
- 4). Slide the column linkage into the steering linkage. This may require you to push up the column and then pulling it back out to get it aligned.
- 5). Bolt the linkages together using the 1/4-inch ratchet and the provided bolt.
- 6). Lay on your side and pull the rubber gasket that surrounds the column onto the firewall. This will seal the interior from the engine compartment, and it should be malleable enough to move with your hand.
- 7). Thread the automatic shift cable through the slotted hole on the passenger side of the column. There is a knob at the end of the column where the cable clicks into, and a square box where the cable pushes into. Be delicate with the end of the cable, because if the plastic surround breaks, it will need to be replaced.
- 8). Connect the wiring harness from the column onto the stock harness. It's on the left side of the column.
- 9). Tighten the column bolts underneath the column to the dash using the 3/8-inch ratchet and sockets.
