If you go to a Spring Training baseball game at Scottsdale Stadium to see the San Francisco Giants play exhibition ball, you might notice an area out in right field that looks like a private party zone. That's exactly what it is!

The Charro Lodge or Charro Pavilion offers the option of a unique Scottsdale Stadium experience, with special seating, food and beverages (yes, beer and wine, too) included.

This area in right field is a perfect spot for entertaining corporate client or for private parties -- it would be ideal for a bachelor party, PR event or a company appreciation day. Tickets for the Charro Lodge or Charro Pavilion are available exclusively through the Scottsdale Charros.

Charro? What is a Charro? In this case, it's the Scottsdale Charros, a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Scottsdale community for over 50 years. The active membership of the Scottsdale Charros is made up of 40 civic and business leaders. After seven years of service, and hundreds for volunteer hours for each of those years, members may opt to become “Life” members and remain involved. There are over 150 Life and Honorary Charros. The Scottsdale Charros organization donates over $500,000 annually to local charities and to fund college scholarships and fellowships. Most of the money raised comes from the sale of Charro Lodge/Charro Pavilion tickets at Giants' spring training games each March.

Attending a Spring Training Game at the Charro Lodge/Charro Pavilion

I attended an evening Cactus League game at Scottsdale Stadium in 2012 and sat in the Charro Lodge/Charro Pavilion area. Here are some things to consider before you buy tickets in those sections. Keep in mind that all prices, food offerings, drink offerings, seating arrangements and conditions may change in subsequent years!

1. The Charro Pavilion is the higher priced option of the two sections. With a Charro Pavilion ticket you may also access the Charro Lodge section right below it. That was actually my preference, because I really wasn't there with clients or partying, I wanted to see the game!
2. In the Charro Pavilion you'll find arrangements of sofas and hi-top tables with a private bar. This area is covered, which might be a benefit during sunny day games, since the afternoon sun shines directly into right field.
3. Each patron in the Charro Lodge/Charro Pavilion is provided a punch card allowing six alcoholic drinks per person. There's no limit on soft drinks or bottled water. When I attended, the alcoholic beverages that were available were beer, white wine, margaritas and Mike's Hard Lemonade.
4. There is another bar for the larger Charro Lodge. Seating in this area is below the Pavilion, and right above the Giants bull pen. If you are lucky enough to grab a table right at the front rail, you can watch the Giants' pitchers warm up. There are some umbrellas at the tables, but generally this is an open air seating area. Tables, hi-tops and rail seating are offered here. The area of the Lodge in the far right field corner is popular (it's closer to home plate), as is that first row over the bullpen.
5. Charro Lodge and Charro Pavilion share food concessions. When I attended, there was a choice of pulled pork or bratwurst, provided by ballpark concessions, or tacos provided by that evening's food sponsor, which on that occasion was a local Mexican restaurant. This isn't a gourmet spread that you might find in a Chase Field suite -- it is ballpark food. Peanuts and red ropes were also on hand, but no desserts, cookies or ice cream. We went out to the concourse to purchase that. If you are having a large party here, talk to the Charros directly about any special catering needs.
6. There is no dress code for the Charro Lodge/Charro Pavilion; it's "baseball casual." Bring your glove in case someone hits a long ball to you!
7. Charro Lodge and Charro Pavilion open about two hours before the game. There is no assigned seating within the Pavilion or Lodge. I arrived about 40 minutes before the first pitch, and the best seats were already taken or reserved for corporate groups.

How to Buy Tickets for the Charro Lodge/Charro Pavilion

You can't get Charro Lodge or Charro Pavilion tickets from the San Francisco Giants website or a ticket seller or broker. You can only purchase tickets through the Scottsdale Charros. Post Game Wrap Up

Generally, I wouldn't expect many individuals to pay the Charros ticket price to sit in right field. If you don't have a large group or don't need a separate area for your party, you can certainly buy regular tickets in the stadium, and buy plenty of drinks/food for less than the cost of a ticket here. The Lodge and Pavilion are best utilized for client or employee appreciation events, or any kind of private party or celebration. While the tickets are expensive, it is important to remember that a significant amount of money is awarded by the Charros to local charities and to students for scholarships to Arizona universities.
