- 1). Build two triangles from the 2-by-4-inch lumber with the base 3 feet long and sides 5 feet long. Use a 4-foot length of 2-by-4-inch lumber to connect each of the triangles together at the corners.
- 2). Place the ramp frame in the area that you have chosen for your jump. Make sure the area is free of obstructions and the dirt in the launching and landing areas is well packed down. Stake the frame in place with a 2-foot section of 2-by-4-inch lumber and then fill the frame with soil. Pack more soil around the frame and completely cover the wood.
- 3). Use the shovel to shape the "face" of the ramp (the area you will launch from) so that it is even and free of bumps. Pack down a path leading to the launch area with the shovel and then inspect the landing area, making sure to remove any rocks or bumps with the shovel.
