- 1). Plug your modem's power supply into a power outlet.
- 2). Plug the modem into a phone outlet using a regular telephone cable.

Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on the back of the modem, and connect the other end to an Ethernet port on your computer. Windows should detect and install the modem automatically. In most cases, this default configuration works perfectly. - 4). Open a Web browser window and enter "192.168.1.1" into the address bar. Enter "admin" as the user name and password when prompted.
- 5). Select "RFC 2364 PPPoA" from the "Encapsulation" menu on the "Internet Setup" page. Click the "VC" Multiplexing option directly below it.
- 6). Select "Disable" for the "Autodetect" option, then enter the "VPI" and "VCI" range beside "Virtual Circuit." Check Resource 1 for the VPI and VCI ranges of common Internet Service Providers. If your ISP's information is unavailable, leave this option enabled.
- 7). Enter the user name and password you set up with your ISP, including the user name "domain," the part after the "@" symbol.
- 8). Click "Save settings" to finish configuring your Linksys modem.
