- 1). Drive the Freestar's front wheels onto the ramps. Shift the transmission into park. Set the parking brake.
- 2). Shove the wheel chock against the back of the left-rear tire to prevent the minivan from rolling backwards.
- 3). Climb under the Freestar with your drain pan, fuel line disconnect tool and the new filter. Follow the fuel lines forward from the gas tank until you spot the fuel filter. Set the drain pan directly underneath the fuel filter.
- 4). Remove the fuel lines from the front and rear of the filter using the fuel line disconnect tool. Pull the filter out of the retaining band and set it in the drain pan.
- 5). Slide the new filter into the retaining band. Make sure the black flow arrow on the side of the filter points toward the engine.
- 6). Connect the fuel lines to the new filter and push the retaining clips at the ends of the lines back into place by hand. Climb out from under the Freestar with the drain pan, tool and old filter.
- 7). Turn the Freestar's ignition to the run position. Count to 10 and shut it off. Repeat that once and then start the Freestar.
- 8). Move the wheel chock. Release the parking brake. Drive the Freestar off the ramps.
