The U.S. Census Bureau cites Minneapolis as Minnesota's largest city with a population of over 372,000. Children under 18 make up 22 percent of that number. With these statistics in mind, it makes sense that Minneapolis has a number of restaurants that cater to families -- and kids in particular. When deciding on a restaurant to take your kids, consider the environment, menu and neighborhood attractions. - Disney Family rates Christo's restaurant as "excellent." The decor and environment isn't fancy; it's in an older building with plain furnishings. The beverage station is plainly visible, but you get kid-friendly service in return. Servers give your kids crayons, and they're encouraged to draw and color on the paper tablecloth to keep them occupied until the food arrives. Specialty menu items please everyone in the family and include moussaka, gyros, falafel and shish kebabs. They also serve family-size portions to share, which is convenient if you have a little one whose eyes are bigger than his stomach. Note that if you want to order a family meal, you must make reservations in advance. The restaurant is located on Minneapolis' "Eat Street," named for its multitude of eateries. Nearby attractions include the Walker Art Center and the Music Box Theater, so you can stop by after an entertaining afternoon with your family.

christos.com - Adrian's features what most parents probably appreciate very much in a kid's restaurant -- a game room that contains bowling lane simulators, pinball machines and videogames. Adrian's prides itself on its family setting, welcoming you with glowing beverage signs, gleaming booths and classic diner decor. Look for typical kid's menu items like macaroni, hot dogs and chicken tenders. They also offer 17 different sides to choose from and a variety of burgers, including a half-pound "Juicy Juice" turkey burger, a veggie burger and the "Dan" burger with cheese and sauerkraut. For a special kid's treat, try the 1919 root beer, black cherry, grape, orange or cream sodas. The restaurant is located on a Chicago street with many small shops, so you can take a walk with the kids after your meal. Adrian's is very affordable and offers take-out.

adrianstavern.com - Though not described as just a kid's restaurant, Fuji Ya provides tiny rice-paper screened private rooms and floor seating perfect for nursing privacy or keeping a sleeping baby away from the noisy bustle that usually comes with dining out. Since the room is enclosed, you don't have to chase your toddler around the restaurant or worry about a high chair. The restaurant itself is welcoming, with warm orange walls and ambient lighting. You take your shoes off when you enter this uptown establishment, which is frequented by hipsters. The surrounding neighborhood isn't really kid-friendly, but the restaurant's service and atmosphere allow parents to enjoy some sushi and drinks and provide the opportunity to introduce your kids to new foods and learn about different cultures.
