The Rockets Cheerleaders: Skinny Fat or Fit?

Growing up in the Detroit area brought about many opportunities to attend professional sports events, and even now my boyfriend and I love going.
As I grew older, I found myself comparing my figure to the cute and adorable cheerleaders that pranced around on the courts or fields.
I think it is completely natural to do so, but I always thought they were just "lucky.
"  My genetics brought along a pretty curvy figure that was never going to be a size 0, and that was that.
But a little bit of envy seemed to hang on, and I would vow to work out twice as hard the following week.
Have you ever felt this way before? My perspective changed when I stumbled across Robert Kennedy's Oxygen magazine.
This magazine taught the difference between skinny fat (thin, but not toned) and being fit.
I loved scouring the articles and recipes to see how these super fit, powerful women led their lives.
What I learned was that it took hard work and commitment to working out consistently and eating clean.
They were not genetically built this way-they basically rebuilt their bodies, inside and out, themselves.
How cool is that?  This empowered me, and made me respect fit women in a whole different way.
I have always been inspired and motivated by these types of role models, and I encourage you to do the same.
So my new outlook was recently tested when we went to see the Houston Rockets play an awesome game of basketball (they won in OT)!  The cheerleaders, known as The Rockets Power Dancers, came out at the start of the game to perform an amazing dance routine.
And instead of feeling jealous, I actually was impressed with their athletic ability and toned physiques.
They didn't have "manly" muscles; they were just in really great shaped and toned.
And isn't that what we all want? I was happy with my reaction, and definitely inspired by these young ladies.
This time, I was able to recognize that they were not skinny fat, but super fit.
They have all worked hard to get where they are, and they should be proud of that.
They could wear a bit more clothing, but their jobs are to perform, and perform they do!
