- 1). Shift the Schwinn Cruiser into the lowest gear while riding or turning the crank by hand.
- 2). Place the Schwinn Cruiser on a bike stand and secure, if you have one available. If you don't have a bike stand, try propping the bike against the wall for stability, or have an assistant hold it in place for you.
- 3). Remove the protective cap over the crank nut where it meets the sprockets by wedging it out with a flat bladed screwdriver.
- 4). Spray the nut holding the end of the crank arm to the sprocket with penetrating lubricant. Allow this to soak in.
- 5). Press the derailleur in towards the sprocket to relieve the tension on the bike chain. Slip the chain from off around the sprocket.
- 6). Slip a socket wrench over the nut connecting the crank arm to the socket.
- 7). Hold the crank arm by the pedal with one hand. With your other hand, grab the socket wrench and turn it counterclockwise until the nut begins unscrewing off the sprocket hub.
- 8). Pull the crank arm straight up and off the Schwinn Cruiser Supreme.
