- 1). Unplug the refrigerator power cord from the wall outlet.
- 2). Open the refrigerator door and pull the temperature control dial off of the control. The dial also serves as the housing for the temperature control.
- 3). Remove the screws securing the temperature control to the refrigerator wall with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Pull the temperature control out of the wall of the refrigerator and place it on the top rack of the refrigerator.
- 4). Label the wires connecting to the terminals on the back of the temperature control. Place small pieces of masking tape around each wire and write on the tape where the wire goes.
- 5). Pull each wire off the terminals of the temperature control. Pull the control out of the refrigerator.
- 1). Remove the screws securing the thermostat control box to the top of the refrigerator compartment with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Look for tabs toward the rear of the box and pull the box forward and down to lower the box to the top refrigerator rack.
- 2). Locate the thermostat for the refrigerator compartment. It is behind the area where you adjust the refrigerator temperature.
- 3). Label and disconnect the wires going to the refrigerator thermostat. Remove the two screws securing the thermostat to the inside of the control box.
- 4). Pull the sensor tube off the thermostat. Remove the thermostat completely from the refrigerator.
