- 1). Pry the upper clamshell trim off the steering column just in front of the steering wheel hub using the trim tool. Set the clamshell aside. You can purchase a trim tool at most auto parts stores for a nominal fee.
- 2). Remove the screw holding the turn signal lever and switch assembly to the steering column using the Phillips screwdriver. Set the screw with the clamshell trim.
- 3). Lift the old turn signal lever and switch assembly out of the steering column by hand and insert the new one in its place.
- 4). Thread the screw into the new turn signal lever and switch assembly by hand and then fasten it all the way with the Phillips screwdriver.
- 5). Reinstall the clamshell trim in reverse of how you removed it.
