- 1). Place the cardboard on the ground or a table in an area shielded from wind, dirt and dust.
- 2). Place the valve cover gasket, bottom up, centered on the cardboard.
- 3). Spray a very light misting of spray adhesive onto the valve cover gasket. Allow the adhesive to set up per the instructions of the spray can. Some adhesives set within seconds; others may take up to ten minutes. It is important to allow it to cure first, but not dry completely.
- 4). Place the valve cover gasket in position on the cylinder head, with the adhesive side facing down towards the head. This step must be done with patience and a steady hand, so you do not stick the gasket to anything other than the top of the head where it belongs.
- 5). Push the entire gasket down onto the head, moving around it evenly to make sure there are not any areas where the gasket is not lying flat against the cylinder head.
- 6). Place the valve cover on top of the gasket and install the valve cover bolts. Tighten down the bolts in a crossing pattern to ensure proper sealing.
