- 1). Connect the stacking kit to the top of the washing machine according to the specific manufacturer installation instructions. Use a kit designed for your brand and model of machines to avoid unsafe or improper stacking.
- 2). Prepare the dryer for lifting. Some kits have pieces that attach to the bottom of the dryer to lock into the main piece over the washer, and others require removal of any pads or feet on the bottom of the dryer. This may require screwdrivers or wrenches.
- 3). Lift the dryer by having two people on opposing sides of the dryer for lifting. Place the dryer on top of the washer as straight and evenly as possible, being careful not pinch fingers or hands when lowering it into place.
- 4). Secure the dryer to the washer tightly, using lock nuts included with the kit. Most of the mounting kits have locking tabs in the front and plates in the back for bolts and nuts. Use a socket set to be sure these are tight and won't easily loosen because of vibration.
- 5). Perform a stability test on the newly stacked appliances by running a clothing load through all wash and rinse cycles. Run the dryer at the same time with a load of laundry inserted. Eliminate any swaying, thumping, or heavy vibration by adjusting the legs on the washer to get it more in balance to support the load.
