The Risks of Obesity

Obesity is a condition that affects millions of people in the world.
This condition is characterized by having excess body fat.
People become obese when they take in so much fat but do little physical activities.
The carbohydrates and fat from the food that they eat get stored in their system as fats and these are reserved for situations that require energy.
However, since obese people do not exercise, fats get stuck in their bodies and build up.
There are many risks of obesity and due to the dangers that it can bring to one's health, obesity is considered to be a serious medical disease.
One of the diseases that are related to obesity is Type 2 Diabetes.
The body has the hormone insulin that acts when there are high levels of sugar in the blood.
This hormone inhibits the body's own glucose production and promotes the formation of substances in order to bring the level of glucose to normal.
In Diabetes Type 2, the insulin receptors of the body do not work properly.
The body resists insulin and this results to the failure of the blood glucose to be taken up by the cells and be used for energy.
Since there is an abnormality with regards to the response of the cells to insulin, they are not able to produce energy due to the lack of glucose.
The brain responds to this by releasing hormones that make the person eat more, increasing his blood sugar more.
Very high levels of blood sugar will lead to hyperglycemia.
Diabetes increases the person's risk of developing heart and kidney ailments.
It also damages the nerves as well as the immune system of the person.
Aside from diabetes, heart problems can also develop in people with excess body fat.
Because of the excessive consumption of fatty substances, the levels of fats and cholesterol in the bodies of obese people are very high.
When there is enough supply of fats in the cells to be used as energy, the fats that were not taken up by the cells remain in the bloodstream.
They are stuck on the walls of the blood vessels and build up over time.
They eventually block the blood vessel and make it difficult for blood to pass through.
This makes the heart work harder to pump blood throughout the system, increasing the blood pressure.
Over time, the heart muscles would weaken and this increases the risks for strokes and heart attacks.
Obesity can also be related to breathing disorder, some forms of cancer, and kidney and gallbladder diseases.
Clearly, being obese poses health dangers and you should start being conscious about your weight and your health before it is too late.
You never know when these health problems can start to develop.
You should limit your intake of oily and fatty foods and you should start exercising.
Eating foods rich in fiber will also help you eliminate fats in your system by binding to them and eliminating them through the excretory system.
You should start living healthy before the complications of obesity take their toll on you.
