- 1). Read the back of the cover of the software CD case or user manual. Most Microsoft software has a sticker on the back cover that displays the key code.
- 2). Download a key finder program if you no longer have access to the original key code.
- 3). Save the file to your computer and follow the installation instructions.
- 4). Double-click on the program's icon to open the program.
- 5). Double-click on the file "Keyfinder.exe" (if using the Keyfinder program) to run the program. The program will scan your computer for available key codes.
- 6). Write down the key code for the relevant Microsoft software.
