Get to Mission San Xavier del Bac. The Mission is located seven miles south of Tucson. Take I-10 to I-19 South and look for Mission signs to exit. The mission can be seen from the interstate. The address is: 950 W. San Xavier Road, San Xavier District. To contact the church directly, call (520) 294-2624. There are no admission or parking fees at Mission San Xavier del Bac; however, donations are appreciated. - 3
Experience the beauty of Mission San Xavier del Bac. An architectural melding of Moorish, Byzantine and Mexican Renaissance influences, visitors can appreciate arched doorways, domed rooms, ornate details and magnificent wall paintings. - 4
Admire the restoration project. Conservation efforts have greatly improved the condition of the Mission. If you enjoy your visit, consider donating funds toward the Mission's restoration and help preserve a historical treasure. - 5). Stop in the gift shop. Purchase a souvenir, postcard or a southwest specialty item. The Mission's gift shop is open every day from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with the exception of major holidays.
- 6). Peruse the Indian craft mall. Adjacent to the Mission, an outdoor mall features local venders selling blankets, baskets, rugs, jewelry and other unique items.
- 7). Order an Indian fry bread before you leave. Undoubtedly there will be locals selling beverages and snacks in the parking lot. Try a tasty fry bread and enjoy this crisp, flat bread with one of many topping choices (the powdered sugar and honey is a local favorite).
