- 1). Start "MapleStory" and create a new character. Select "Resistance" (the top left option) when given the choice to choose a character class.
- 2). Follow the story events in the mine area where the game starts. At this stage, there is very little you can do, but a lot of plot events unfold, and you will learn about the Resistance. A man named J will also tell you that the Resistance will contact you when you reach level 10. After all this, you'll be in the town of Edelstein.
- 3). Speak to Ferdi the headmaster, who is standing in front of the school (the big building with the book on top of it). He explains to you how to level up and suggests that you do missions for the townspeople to level up. (Townspeople who have missions for you have a light bulb above their heads. Speak to them and perform their missions for extra experience.) The missions all involve killing monsters that are found by going to the left of town and using the portal.
- 4). Speak to the headmaster again when you reach level 10. He gives you an invitation; press the "I" key on your keyboard, then click the "Use" tab. Double-click on the invitation letter that you will see to use it.
- 5). Speak to Claudine, the Resistance instructor. She is the woman in black standing right in front of you after you have used the invitation. She tells you to speak to the instructors and choose a job in the Resistance. Speak to Belle, the Wild Hunter instructor, who is standing next to the jaguar just below Claudine.
- 6). Click "Accept" when she asks if you want to join and become a Wild Hunter. Click "Yes" when she asks if you are certain. Speak to her again and she explains to you how to find and capture a jaguar. Her jaguar, named Black Jack, will then talk to your character. When the conversation is over, your character will be in an area populated by a number of wild jaguars.
- 7). Pick the jaguar that you want to get as a mount. They all have different colors, so select one that you like the most, and start attacking it. Get its health down to about 50 percent, then press "K" on your keyboard and, while facing the jaguar, double-click the Capture skill. If done correctly, the words "Captured" will display on screen, and you will have your very own panther. Press "K" on your keyboard and double-click "Jaguar Rider" whenever you want to summon your panther for you to ride around.
