- 1). Cut three different colored plastic lace strands all at even length with the scissors. Cut a fourth strand to be one and a half times longer than your first three.
- 2). Lay the three shorter strands parallel to each other over the longer strand with the middles crossing. Fold the ends of the long strand over the center, making two loops.
- 3). Take the nearest short strand and weave it over the first loop and under the second loop, pulling it in the opposite direction. Take the next strand over the first loop and under the second as well. Continue weaving the strands over the first loop and under the second loop until they are all weaved in. Pull all the strands tight to secure the stitch. You will see the three square stitches in a row.
- 4). Make loops over the middle again with the long strand. Weave each of the short strands over the first loop and under the second loop as you did before. Pull all the strands tight after all the strands are woven into the loops. Continue using the same technique to build up your gimp project.
- 5). Weave one last stitch and leave it loose to finish your project. Take one end of the long strand and feed it through the next right hole in the first square weave. Pull the end through the middle of the first square weave. Take the next strand and feed it around to the right into the nearest hole in the stitch and out of the middle of the first weave. Continue feeding the strands into the sides of the weaves and out through the middle. You will have three strands through the two end squares and two strands in the middle square.
- 6). Pull all the strands tight to secure the end of the gimp project. Trim the strand ends if needed with the scissors.
