- 1). Remove the larger portions of wax with the stiff scraper. You can use a plastic spatula or similar kitchen utensil.
- 2). Cover the cookie sheet with aluminum foil and line it with paper towels. Set your oven to its lowest setting. On some, this will be a temperature of about "200 degrees," but on other ovens, it may be the "Keep Warm" setting.
- 3). Place the glass jars, inverted, on the paper towels. If the mouth of the jar is narrow and the jar does not balance well inverted, lay it on its side. If your cookie sheet is flat with no sidewalls, place the jar upright rather than on its side. Place the jars in the oven.
- 4). Wait approximately five minutes and check the jars. If you still see solid wax, wait another minute or two and check again. Otherwise, carefully remove the cookie sheet with the jars using an oven mitt.
- 5). Hold the jar with an oven mitt. Use a textured, silicone oven mitt, because a bulky cloth oven mitt may not provide enough of a grip to handle the jars. Wipe up the melted liquid wax with paper towels. For deep jars, wrap the paper towels onto the tongs and use them to wipe the jar to avoid burning yourself.
- 6). Repeat, if necessary, until no wax is visible. Wash in very hot water or in a dishwasher to remove any residual wax film.
