Kennedy Center Honors 2014
Since 1978, the Kennedy Center Honors has paid an annual tribute to five extraordinary individuals for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts. Honorees are talented artists who are known for their excellence in music, dance, theater, opera, motion pictures, or television. During the star-studded celebration at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, the honorees are seated with the President and the First Lady while they accept the thanks of their peers through an evening of live entertainment.
The Honorees are selected through a combination of recommendations from the general public and an advisory committee comprised of artists, past Honorees and Kennedy Center board members.
The 2014 Kennedy Center Honors Gala will be held on December 7th and broadcast on CBS on December 30th at 9:00-11:00 p.m. (ET/PT) Stephen Colbert will host this year's event.
